North Carolina joins A Bag's Life recycling campaign

News & Observer (By Sue Stock)

Today, North Carolina became the fourth state to join a plastic bag recycling campaign called A Bag's Life.

North Carolina retailers and legislators gathered on the steps of the Legislative Building in Raleigh to announce the formal launch of the program in North Carolina this morning.

A Bag's Life encourages consumers to recycle or reuse their plastic grocery bags and remids people that other bags such as those from dry cleaning, newspapers and bread may also be recycled. The campaign is also active in Virginia, Texas and Florida, using campaign slogans like, "Don't treat me like trash" and "Gimme a second chance."

A Bag's Life has a website with a store locator that can help guide North Carolinians to one of the 1,200 retail locations where bags are accepted for recycling. There are also Twitter and Facebook accounts for the campaign.
